Wyandot County has a rich history starting all the way back to the cave of ancient man where an archeologist from Kent State has been conducting a dig.

The Wyandot Indians called this area home. They fought here and burned Colonel Crawford,  at the stake here to avenge the massacre of the peaceful Moravian Indians .

The Wyandots were converted to Christianity by John Stewart near the location of the first Methodist Mission in the United States

The U.S. Government also built a mill for the Indians to grind their grain.

Two of the state's few remaining covered bridges are located in Wyandot County.

The McCutchenville Inn served as a stopping place for travelers of the 19th century and today is a museum.

Dedicated in 1957 this alter and stature stand 75 feet tall and is located in the Shrine Park which also contains the stations of the cross.

The Wyandot County Courthouse is another historic building worth visiting because of the beautiful restoration of the interior.

Much more can be learned about the history of Wyandot County by visiting the Wyandot County Museum or ...

the Mohawk Historical Society.
